CARIBBEAN-POLITICS-CARICOM names Trinidadian national as new Assistant Secretary General.

GEORGETOWN -- The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary General, Dr. Carla Barnett Tuesday announced the appointment of Trinidad and Tobago national, Elizabeth Solomon, as the Assistant Secretary-General, Foreign and Community Relations.

Solomon, who has more than 30 years of legal, communication and foreign service experience, took up the position from October 15.

She has served in various senior- level capacities in the United Nations system, covering complex conflict recovery, governance and foreign relations issues, including in the Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary General's Good Offices Mission in Cyprus; the Office of the Resident Coordinator, Sierra Leone; and UN Missions in Kosovo and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
