FOOTBALL-CARIBBEAN-Mitchell, Poleon efforts in vain; Hope goal hands Oldham win.

LONDON -- Grenada's Kairo Mitchell and St Lucia international Dominic Poleon both scored on Saturday to extend their superb form but their goals were in vain as their respective sides failed in their quest for full points in the National League.

Playing in a seven-goal thriller at home at Spotlight Stadium, the 25-year-old Mitchell banged in his seventh of the season but Rochdale slumped to a 4-3 defeat to Oldham Athletic, who got a goal from Barbados international Hallam Hope.

Away at Mill Farm, 30-year-old Poleon scored the opener - his eighth of the season - but ten-man Ebbsfleet United were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Fylde.

The results left Rochdale 12th on 20 points and Ebbsfleet, 17th on 17 points. Oldham lie tenth on 22 points while AFC Fylde remained rock bottom on ten points.

Nathan Sheron put Oldham ahead after 16 minutes when he scored from 20 yards, a goal that proved the decisive factor at the half-time whistle.
