rulesofinternationallawtonewpoliticalrealities.Theresurgent
nationalismofpeoplesandterritoriesliberatedfromcolonialrulehas
asserted,inparticular,its claimstoanequitableparticipationin
politicalaffairsandthesharingofeconomicresources.
Anothercharacteristicfeatureofthepresentdayworldsocietyis
theestablishmentandgrowthofavarietyofinternational
organizations,varyingbothinpowersandimportance.Consequently,
thesubjectmatterofinternationalrelationsnolongerfocuses
primarilyontheactivitiesofdiplomatsandsoldiers;but,rather,it
encompassesmanifoldeconomicandsocial aspectsoflife. Thishas
resultedinthecreationofnewtypesofinternationalorganizations,
suchastheIBRD,UNCTAD,UNDPandUNIDO,specifically
designedtodeal withtheproblemsarisingfromthecoexistenceofthe
richandpoornationsinthefamilyofnations.
